My friend is looking to buy some rims for her 2000 cavalier and she was doing some research on what some good names are etc and what size to go with. She has $1600 to spend on rims + rubber, but she might also want to lower her car a bit if rims dont cost that much.

Shes also worried about buying used because she doens't want to get jipped. Any info would help out alot. Shes worried on what to look for in a good rim, and if she does buy used what to look for so the rim isn't in bad shape or coulda be a patch job on a broken rim etc.

You never said what size rim she wants, but I think $1600 might be a lil low for a set of 17s.

I just bought a set of new 17" rims with rubber. TenzoR Passion 5's wrapped in Kuhmo Supra 712.

If your friend wants new 17" rims with tires I think she'll be hard pressed to find a nice set for that price. Mine came to just over $2000 taxes in.

Jaysi is right.. if your friend wants to get NEW rims then it would have to be 16" or lower.. you could probably get away with 16" w/ Kumho 712's..

depends on which rim you want too, but tell her not to count on getting her car lowered at the same time unless she has more $ to work with

I know alot of people don't feel safe doing this, but I bought my rims and tires off ebay.

They came together in a package. Everything was brand new, and came safely packed, no scratches, new tires, everything.

I got 17" Enkei RS-5 rims, with brand new Kumho rubber (tires came on the rims, and they were balanced too). Everything including shipping cost me $720 U.S. = approx. $1100 CAN.

This was my largest purchase off ebay, and I was extremely happy. The guy I bought the rims from is registered on ebay as "WhalenTire". He has a high seller rating, meaning he's very reliable and honest.

Matt, if your friend has a base 2000 cavalier, tell her to get some take offs from like a 2003 z24 or whatever the highest model is right now. It'll look clean and tight, and it'll also fit, and be cheap! BTW, she has a 5 bolt pattern right? Make sure she doesn't end up with rims she can't use that's all. Buy take offs from e-bay... best place for them. or sumply lurk the j-body forums for stock 2003 rims. It should leave her enough money for good used springs AND some sway bars or maybe a short shifter.
