JDM b16a2 rev limiter problems
I have a 95 b16a2 hatch (OBD-1), and for some reason i hit the rev limiter at 7200 rpm. VTEC engages just fine at about 5300rpm in my car but its like 2 seconds before i hit the limiter, so my car is way slower than it should be. Like im around 8 seconds (G-tech) to 100kph when it should be around seven. I was wondering if anyones had this problem, and what the best thing to do is to fix it, thanks.

are you running the right ecu...who did the swap...i bet you its the wrong ecu
|
Thats the problem, is there any way to check, i bought this car with the swap, the guy couldnt be insured anymore so it was a fast sale. But i have no idea, is it possible it could still have the ecu from a d15? how much would it cost to fix my mess if that was the problem? The car does run fine and i havent had one problem in the last 6 months, its just im loseing so much power because the engine doesnt even get to peak hp

i went thru the same thing man..i had no cels..so i assumed it was fine it ended up being a d15 ecu on my b18 found out when i went to tune it lol
theres a code on the side of the ecu..its under the dash near the sidewall on the passenger side..pull out the carpet its under there and no it shouldnt be a very expensive fix to get the right ecu..or just get that ecu coverted over to a b16 basemap |
thanks alot, that helps for sure!

ya, you are probably using a p28 or p08 ecu, when really you need a p30.
Of course you can just chip the p28/p08 (or whatever ecu it is) and run the b16 program on the chip. |
^^ pm zeeman with how much he charges to chip and run a stock map (and a conversion harness if necessary). It's amazing the difference the right ecu/map can do for your car ;)
