resetting an ECU
#2
Many different ways, but I just pull the fuse out for 10 minutes, then start it w/o touching the gas... let it idle till the fan comes on, then take it for a spin slowly, and resume normal operation. There are also procedures in the repair manual. But I don't like disconnecting the battery cuz the radio has theft deterrance (loses the time and radio stations if that's not deterrance enough, I don't know what is). Remember, the ECU will clear codes, but flags are stored FOREVER! Muahaha... kidding, the code flags are stored until someone with an OBD1 reader removes them (like a dealer).

No it does not have to be at any temp. Just unplug it... see what I mean about different ways/different things... I don't know what the exact time is guys... I unplug it, sit and have a smoke, when I'm done...it's reset.

for EFs... its the 10 amps hazard fuse for 10 sec. Others, probably the Back-up fuse in main fuse box. but OBD2 need a scanner or diagnostic tool to reset some codes. disconnecting the battery for 10 sec would work too.
