research on SIR
hey just wondering if the SIR is 4 wheel disc brakes? Does it come with ABS? Also whether it does or doesn't, with changing ABS breaks is it the same method as non ABS?
Just wondering if a cold air intake and a short shifter would help improve the SIR's performance, or is it not worth it?
How low you can drop it before it starts rubbing using 205/45/16 Motegi MR7. My friend had a 1998 SI and he dropped it with Eibach sportline 1.8 front & rear with the same rims and it was rubbing on sharp turns, will that happen to me?

Yes SiR's are all disc and ABS, the Si in the states doesn't have ABS...just an aside... not sure about method of replacement, check the haynes manual, it'll be in there...dunno bout the rest, mine's still virgin stock...

well you have a 95 so if your friend rubbed or not doesn't really matter cuz it's a different body, it all depends on the offset of the rims, i'd go out on a limb and say that if your friend rubbed on his 6th gen you'd rub for sure on your 5th unless you roll your fender.... check offset for sure before you get any rims..

It also depends on what SIR you are talking about I guessing the coupe one 98-00?
If so yes, they come in all wheel disc.
Now when you mean change the ABS brake do you mean change as in replace worn pads or upgrade the brakes.
Changing pads should be the same and if you want to change the rotors and caliper to like a big break kit there will be some issues.
CAI will improve perfomance but you'll need other mods on the car to fully realize the potential. Short shifter is for driver preference, if a short shifter screws you up and makes you miss shifts then no it would not improve performance.
It all comes down to the driver, do you shift better with or without the short shifter.

yea i was talking about a 2000 SIR coupe. And you got it, i wasn't thinking about changing the breaks to bigger ones just normal pads and rotors. As for the drop when I had my 1995 coupe it was dropped lower then my friends 6th gen and never rubbed, but his was dropped only 1.8 and it rubbed, is that gonna be the same for the SIR if I buy it?
Echien: What other mods would I need to fully realize the potenital?

If your tires are 205 than you'll rub for sure with a 1.8" drop. Mine's dropped 3" on 195/55/15 and have no problems. To answer your next question, basic bolt-ons (i.e., CAI, exhaust, hedders) will give you a bit of extra power but to really feel a difference you'll have to do more work like maybe a chip or port and polish the heads, etc... Hope this helps.
