Replacing US d16z6 with JDM D16A
Hello
I'm replacing a D16Z6 engine that blew a connecting rod with an imported JDM D16A. Both SOHC V-Tec 1.6L engines. There are 2 discrepancies I have had with this. The JDM has a single Conductor O2 sensor, the US has a 4 pin connector. That is easily fixed by swapping the O2 Sensors.
The 2nd discrepancy is that the JDM engine does not have a Purge Cut Solenoid, or provisions on the Intake manifold for mounting it, or connecting the vacuum line.
Can I Tee the purge Cut solenoid somewhere else, or do I need to replace the entire manifold on the JDM with the USDM one?
Herbie
PS, I'm cheap, and would rather not buy a new intake gasket.

use your USDM manifold, ive been there done that, its better off just swapping intake manifolds.
A new gasket is $11 and if your too cheap to afford $11 then i dont know what to tell you, if you use the old gasket it'll idle nice and high (most likely) and if its in pretty bad shape it wont run that nice.

Thanks.
I was joking about the price of the gasket.
I already replaced the water pump, timing belt, thermostat and filters anyway, and it was easier to just move the entire exhaust manifold over than remove the O2 sensor, might as well do the intake manifold. Was just hoping for an "easy" fix on the Purge Valve.
