I've done head gaskets before. It's hella lots of work, but it's all nuts and bolts... all nuts and bolts fellas. Don't let 'em intimidate you. :D Fo' real... not too hard :shrugs:

haha... Matt, you know how I am... start job... clean parts, inspect parts for wear, order any replacement parts needed, wait for dealer to get parts in, start putting stuff together, button everything down, and refill fluids... start engine and check for leaks :) Total 2-3 weeks :D LOL

j/k, it's about a 6 hour job, given the right parts and tools at hand (get a 3 jaw puller from CT for sure - rent it) it can be done over a nice weekend.

yeah seen it before just wondered what you need it for?

punkindrublic 04-Sep-2003 12:05 PM

oh sorry my bad... i can't think of what it would be for...

I like having it around when working around pulleys... you see, belts mean you got pulleys, and they are on tapered ends, which requires a puller to get off... like your crank pulley, cam sprockets... isht like that. I did the head gasket of a neon (surprise surprise  :D ) and it required the removal of the crank pulley, which by the looks of it the Honda will require as well. Set everything to TDC of cyl #1 so it's all easy to align later on when you are putting everything back together. Don't bend any valves now :p j/k make sure the engine doesn't rotate while the timing belt is off, and the head is still on. once you pull the head, it's all good :)

it shouldnt take any more than 4 hours. i have done a bunch of mini-me swaps in that amount of time. its basiclly like doing a head swap only there is less involved.

make sure to double check your cam and ignition timing when your done.
