Replacing Front Springs on 99 Civic

Replacing Front Springs on 99 Civic
When replacing front springs on 99 civic, what should you remove to get the strut/spring out? upper contol arm? upper ball joint? lower control arm? ...can you remove the spring from the strut with out a spring compressor?

No no no...
4 things:
bolt from shock to fork
bolt from fork to lower arm
brake line retaining bolt
nuts under hood for upper strut tower
pull shock assembly out
compress spring
remove top retaining nut
voila!
If you are not confident, PM loudsubz, he'll do it for like $40 or something for just the front...

oh and the fork is the thingy that looks like a wishbone and goes over and around the axle... you'll see. All you need in your tool box is a jack, jack stand, 17, 14, 12, 10 mm wrench and sockets, and a 6 mm allen key.... maybe something else.. I forget... a hammer is always good too

Ya, the fork just drops down and is left hanging over the axle... you can remove it altogether, but there is no need... it gains you enough clearance to pull the shock assembly out.

bruno, you gotta open up a garage with all the work you do then id coem to you for real tough/complicated stuff
also for the 6th gen fronts, i belive the brake line is bolted to the control arm opposed to the actual strut assembly like on 5th gens, at leats thats how it was on a 99 sedan that i worked on.

awww... thanks Matt. Ya, shop :working: would be great, but how in the world would I finance it... I can barely pay for my house as it is I found that I enjoy it as a hobby, but I'm not sure I could be a mechanic... too many rusty crapmobiles to work on. Now if I was a Porsche or Lambo mechanic... LOL Or motorcycle mechanic
