Removing oil pan
 

I removed the tranny brackets, took the flywheel cover off, removed all the bolts and nuts and the thing just doesnt budge. I tried giving it some whacks with a piece of wood....nothing. Some advice would be great.

edit: its a b20 motor.

Get a rubber deadblow.

Or hold a 2x4 to the pan and give it a NICE wack with a ball peen or a nice sized hammer

or you could simply use a chisel or nice size flathead and get pry it off. The gasket is probably melted real nice on that pan!

i dont like doing this. This wrecks the mating surfaces..

but its up to you (i've done it before) just gotta be careful

3riple check that you got all the bolts off the pan and hit it with a ball peen, or even a sledge. If you're going to replace the oil pan anyway just let her have it.

That's what I did.

well, i ended up prying that b1tch off....oh well....figured i'd need a new gasket anyways.

any time you pull an oil pan you should ALWAYS replace the gasket.

when putting on a new gasket on the oil pan do you need to put on silicone with the gasket? on both sides?

i just like to put silicone on the outside of the mating surface. Not too much.. but just a normal bead
