Removing broken axle stub

I snapped an axle, and the splined stub is stuck in the diff. Are there any tricks that I could do to get it to come out? Believe me, I've tried a hammer and rod through the other end, but the angle doesn't allow a good hit. What are the best options?

OOO that's a difficult one. Too bad it isn't an LSD transmission with the clear shot at the axle. You COULD try drilling and tapping the axle(they aren't that hard) such that you could drive or pull it out with the use of a bolt.

Other than the use of a thin punch and going through the other axle hole in the trans, that is the only means I could think of. To get a better perspective of the space you have, is it a b series or d series transmission and which axle is it?

It is a B series tranny. YS1 I believe. In a 93 Integra RS. I don't think there is even room to drill a hole to put a bolt in there. I'm guessing the next bet would be to drop the tranny/diff and get a sledge hammer?
