it'll kill your motor, drive normally until the car reaches to normal temperature. why would you do something like that anyways.

yeah or else you would've had a problem by now. nothing to worry about, just don't do it often.

on vtec and similar engines (lift) you might notice the car won't rev above its 'lift engagement' rpm. on my toyota xrs it will cut-off the fuel at 6200 when the car is cold. Kinda feels like i redlined (sudden loss of power), but its actually a 'feature' of how vtec works.. I would imagine if vtec/lift kicks in (if you have it), yer engine is warm enough.

i believe some people say when your car is not warmed up, the vtec won't kick in.... so it protects your engine from abuse....

but again, i never really redline when its cold and actually i hardly redline my car.... only vtec once in a while for the fun of it when i'm bored... but not often i'm bored haha

I would just chill a bit and wait for the normal operating temprature before I do anything crazy with the car.

It doesnt matter how cold or hot yoru engine is. If the oil pressure is up to normal pressure, it wont hurt your engine.

I suppose oil pressure gauge is not available in every vehicle, that's why most people go by temperature.

coolant temp isnt what determines whether ur car is warm or not...
it takes a while for the engine components to reach the proper
temp, which is important because metal expands, and the parts are designed to work at a certain temp...clearances change etc...
another reason not to rev a cold engine

My car redlines at 7500 with no VTEC when its cold, rather then 8300 with vtec. But, i try not to rev high at all when its cold...

well you certainly didn't do your engine any favours, and yeah, you did cause damage, but the question is, will the damage be noticable right now.... prolly not. the damage will slowly get worse and worse over 10 years, and in 10 years compare your car to one that has not been abused, and you will see a noticable difference. but I'm assuming you don't care about that.

anyways, when you're having a bad day, just remember....it's not the car causing you stress.
