just wonderin what springs u reccomend for a 98 civic ex? (si up there) i was told tein. ill prolly get those. ok picture this.... a white 98 coupe rollin on 15" black rota slipstreams....what inch drop should i give my car for it to look nice and sporty? most good springs i see are for like a 1.5" drop. 2" would prolly look really sharp huh? although i dont want to diminish driveability, like over speedbumps or dips. THANX

i just order skunk 2 race springs, the spring rates on the springs are about 450 front 380 rear, give or take, its a 2.5 drop, only a little looser than the neuspeed race springs, they have like 495 front 395 rear but a 2 inch rear and 2.25 front drop well for 92-95 civic, just realized u have a 6th gen

h&r sport. I have eibach sportlines (1.8" drop) with 15" wheels and it looks good. I can get one thumb in there. I'd recommend a good progressive spring for a daily driver between 1.5" and 1.8" drop.

Any lower than this and you will have a difficult time with speedbump and parking lot entrances. There are just too many times when it is not practical to take them at angles. Also if you have no power steering like me it is near impossible to quickly steer around speedbumps. With a 1.5" drop you should be able to take every speedbump very slowly head on.

race springs = stupiid.....get soem h&r sports they are the best compromise out there and have a 1.5 inch drop which will be perfect....oh ya and get some shocks to like kyb agx's...or koni reds.....

go with progress springs, best IMO not as low as race but lower than sports

If your getting the sportlines, stay away from the koni reds (koni for that matter). I have them and find they are have little control under daily driving conditions - very bouncy. Go with a tokico blue or agx. I have been in the same car with the same wheel and tire combo with a polyurethane bushing set, roll cage, and tein ra's and the ride was less bouncy on the street.

Outside of this forum, I have never heard anything good about the koni.

me either. i always heard konis as middle line to high bottom line. i prolly wont get shocks till my stocks are kinda worn but thanx for the advice

I guess you don't surf much. I would take Koni's any day of the week over Tokico or KYB. I use Koni Yellows myself, and Koni's are always heavily-favoured on almost all boards that I go on.

but koni yellows arent eeasy on the pocket , IMO they are the best that I've heard of but I like the ride of tokico illuuminas as well

tokico blue's or kyb agx's over koni red's? sorry but that was so funny i nearly fell off my chair...i consider blues and agx's 'entry' level shocks. and the fact that agx voids warranty for > 1.5" drops says a lot about them.

oh ya I jsut thougt of this the "spoon look" is out dated....whtie car with rotas was the cool "jdm" thing liek 2-3 years ago... what's cool now is the old school mugan rims...but if your nto doing it to be a poser than all the power to ya...oh ya dont' get a gay spoon sticker and stick it on your front fender

We can argue all day long, and never get anywhere. My viewpoint is based upon my personal experiences with my cars, my friends cars, and those at the shop that let me ride in their cars.

I'm sorry if my opinion doesn't match yours, but it may agree with others. For instance some people like that tin can exhaust sound and some don't, some like heavy subbass and no midrange, some think fluorescent pink is the best colour you could ever paint a car.

The point is, someone asked a question and we gave them our opinions. The more opinions we contribute, the bigger the arsenal to make the right decision for their application. My opinion are >2" drops and koni's aren't for daily driving.

dingus8, fivespeed is my friend and we both have 98 civic exs-si to you guys- mine black and his white. we are both gonna get rota slipstreams. i know the look is alittle outdated, but i (im not sure about him though) am not doing cuz it was popular, i just love the look of the black rims on my black car. i was the one who introduced the spoons to him when i was showing him my plans on what i was gonna do to my car. he instantly fell in love with them as i did, thats why i believe he wants them, so dont criticize.

ya I alwasy loved spoon rims to....but mostly on black cars.....and koni reds are bouncy cause they do nto have enoguh dampening to control the movement of the spring properly...so and adjustable woud be needed to increase the dampening to stop the bounce...enter the koni yellow...sport lines are kinda crappy springs anyway...get h&R sports or neuspeed sports with a decent shock
