which rear discs can I buy for my ek
#2
Hey man. I just did a brake swap. I got a Dx Hatch, and changed it to SiR Rear Disc, and Front SiR Calipers.
In my opoinion, Its not worth it. I got the parts alone for REALLY REALLY cheap, but the labour is expencive, and so are the aftermarket arms, bushings and bolts add up
The guy that I bought it off got it from a local shop, and one of the rear discs were seized, and we couldn't pump it in. I needed new lower control arms, cause mine were siezed, and a whole bunch of new bolts, and other suspension parts that were seized.
My mechanic, who is a friend of mine, said that if I didn't put in the SIR front calipers, i wouldn't have felt any difference with the rear discs. The rear disc pads are like 1/3rd the size of front pads. Rear Drum brakes actually engage faster cause they ahve a better surface area than those small discs. I'm not saying that drums are better than discs, but it doesn't make a big difference.
If you have SiR front calipers already, and just do a rear disc, u won't feel a difference in braking power, I guarantee u. U'll have to change ur brake booster and Master cylinder to a bigger one, and u'll need a different prop valve. Not worth the money, in my opinion.
If u have any other questions, just PM me. I just did mine last month, and if u wanna mechanic that will do it for under 600, PM me.

yes gsr or sir rear disk setup will bolt on. I beleive a acura gs has a smaller rotor, so make sure you get the sir or gsr ones. all other civic suspension will bolt up to it. (upper, lower control arms) You might not need a booster/master and prop valve if you already have a a 15/16's master cylinder on the car.
