Rear disc swap help....is my prop valve right?
Im not sure if there is a thread for this already but here it goes... im doing a GS-R disc swap front and rear on my Ek hatch....now i ordered up and SIR 40/40 prop valve to properly distribute the fluid for braking....but i took another look at my stock DX prop valve, and it has 6 line fittings coming form it... and the SIR i just bought has room only for 4.....how can this be? i know enough people have done the swap, how did you guys regulate braking power...are you using the DX prop or what??? please help. i gotta get my car done to get to work..etc...

40/40 prop valve is the correct one. The only problem is with abs. If you car does not have abs, you need a non abs prop valve. I used a 95 integra RS non abs prop valve for my car. You can probably get one at the junk yard. It will look the same as your stock one

All EK hatch uses 40/40 PV.

Prop is not needed for hatches, amazingly - they share the same prop as the em1. ABS or not, doesnt matter, if there are drums in the rear. The prop valve affects brake balance, so switching to rear discs doesn't always mean that it has to be changed. The 96-00DX has the same prop valve as the 99-00SI. The DX has small front rotors and rear drums, while the 99-00SI has large front rotors and small rear rotors. So even though they are very different braking setups, they have a similar balance. The 96-00EX has a different prop valve from the DX/SI. However it has SI large front rotors and DX small rear drums, so as you can see, it would have a different balance than either the DX or SI. also, about the prop valve. if you have a 96-00 hatchback, you have the same one as the si. otherwise, you need it. 99 si coupe: 46210-S04-902 00 si coupe: 46210-S04-902 96 dx hatch: 46210-S04-902 96 cx hatch: 46210-S04-902 00 dx hatch: 46210-S04-902 00 cx hatch: 46210-S04-902 they're different for coupes & sedans though. 96 ex coupe: 46210-S04-962 00 dx sedan: 46210-S04-912 3030 - 9.5" front / drum rear 3035 - 9.5" front / larger drum rear 3040 - 9.5 front / disc rear 4040 - 10.25" front / disc rear 4035 - 10.25" front / larger drum rear |
Its does make a difference with abs. i don't care what other people have said. I put front and back sir brakes on my eg and I could not use the prop valve. The Canadian SIR's had abs and the prop valve was totally differerent with only 4 fittings, I needed 6 fittings and I used a integra rs non abs one.

EG is different from EK. What you did for your setup was correct, but he is doing this on his 6th gen.
|
So his stock 6 fitting prop valve is a 40/40 valve and should work fine?
|
Yes, as I have on mine as well.
Whether it is 30/30 or 40/40, the braking will be fine. But I do recommend up upgrade the MC/BB if possible. |
Ya, I have a 15/16 gsr setup on mine.

great thanks for you input/help everyone, sorry i took so long to respond, but again thank you for your help, much appreciated, becauze i did check and all the part numbers are the same so i figured they must be the same...who knew..
