Hi,

I had a rear caliper seize up on me last year. It ate one of the pads (back of the rotor, passenger side) right down to the steel. At the time I bought a new caliper and put new pads, but did nothing to the rotor. I think maybe the rotor did suffer some damage, mainly some cuts, as I ran my fingers along the back and it appears uneven. The rotor is a cross-drilled KVR. My question is, can I shop turn this rotor for me? Can I maybe smooth down the surface some how? I'm not feeling any vibrations when I stop, but the brakes don't feel 100%. The front part of the rotor looks fine except the pad is leaving an even mark on it, i.e not making full contact, it appears. Don't really want to spend $200 on new KVR rear rotors. Any suggestions?

so get cheap oem replacements? Cross drilled rotors are garbage anyways.

But to answer your question.. I doubt you'll find a shop that will machine cross drilled rotors.. i'm sure it CAN be done, but they will be no guarantee whatsoever and I can't imagine the lathe doing a proper job with c/d rotors.

I guess I can go back to oem rotors for the rear. Should I at least get some performance pads? Will it make that much of a difference for the rear brakes, or is it pointless? Hawk hps pads with oem rotors a good combo?

if you dont track, its completely un-necessary. For street use OEM is better. Most of the braking is done in the front anyways..

I was thinking of getting a set of cross drilled rotors machined and called around to a few places. There was a couple of machine shops that said they could turn em.
I ended up just buying new blank rotors though, my cross drilled ones were warped to bad

So call around, you should find a shop that'll do it.
