it was already posted. OMNI is giving him a new one and said the break is due to being installed without pre-loading the spring. whether thats true or not beats me, but it should not snap. probably a defective part that should have had more material to hold it together though....not good if that happens on the 401...that'd = ooch

yeah omnis are pretty polular, thus having more feedback...
just like popular rims have feed back of shattering, adjustable springs cracking, and so on

did u read the entire thread? its 9 pages long. and those pics are of 2 different incident. the first pic was a dude that broke his hitting a bump on the road and the other 3 pics are of a professional drag team that crashed into the wall at 170mph because the omni's broke and notice that the one that didnt broke was cracked around, but its just a heads up. it seems as if the collars were poorly designed and way too thin for the application, especially being aluminum and all. And preloading the spring has nuffin to do with how they broke, its just a fancy way of saying installer error. if preloading the spring was that detrimental, dont u think omni would of have some kind of warning. They are considering a new design, but i dont know if it released or not so b4 u buy, ask about the new design.

how could that happen from a speed bump? hitting it at over 100km/h?

but 2 instances? how many of these are sold through out north america.
konigs have shattered, ractive headers have cracked, rotas haves hattered, skung springs have cracked, and the list goes on.
if it were a less popular product you would not get n e feedback as there are not enough sold to get n e thing negative.

it wasn't from a speed bump. maxboost doesn't quite know how to read either.
it was caused by a bump in the roadway whilst driving.

and it is UNFORTUNATE that products DO have defects..this being one of those cases.
but if these problems are happening by poor design, then thats another story.

yeah, well it was poor design cuz they're releasing new coils with thicker collars...

if it wasn't the design they wouldn't have released a new model

just remember nothing is going to be perfect though you think it should b/c companies who make automotive parts pay through the roof on insurance!

i remmeber` when i had my 7thgen civic some girl bought Skunk2 coilover aka sleeves... and it was either the snapping at the locking perch or the spring itself snapped, you gotta realize this stuff happens, nothign is perfect but you think the Q/A ( inspection at the facility should not let things slide so easily! )

hey guys,

Haha that guy also broke their Tein Coilovers. Anyways I had a talk with the people at omni power. Effective immediately, 10mm collars will be replacing all the old collars. If anyone has the old collars and would like them replaced, please contact the dealer that you dealt with or contact me directly at john@optionjdm.com or at 416-297-5788.

Thanks
John
