So I come out to my car today and i notice a green puddle on the ground. I get into the car when i realize...wait a sec...thats not cool...

So i popped the hood and notice there is no more antifreeze in the bottle...

So then i take the bus to school and then after class i come back.

I checked all of the hoses and noticed they were not leaking...

So then i check the rad and i am missing a lot of coils...So i think that it must be the rad that is leaking the antifreeze cuz thats where the puddle seemed to be coming from.


Does anyone else have any ideas on this? What is the best solution for me to fix this? Replace the rad entirely? Is it a do it your selfer or should i pay midas or someone to do it?

Any info on this would be great!

its probably your rad leaking... if you know how to braze its easy to fix

replaceing the rad is easy, but its a very messy job ... so if your willing to get allittle dirty and wet, I say go for it... Maybe a Hayns manual can assist you... Its also a good time to do a compleate backflush of the entire cooling system... maybe change the thermostat also, and you will have a nice toasty car for winter time... If you wait much longer tho it will be to cold outside to work on it, then ull end up takeing it to a shop... Generic brand name Rads go for around 200$

Don't forget to change the gasket for the thermostat too.


If the rad is low, and the bottle is empty, that means you have been driving with this problem for at least a little while.

Go to crappy tire and get a new rad.....and also get new fluid, rad cap, thermostat, and a gasket for the thermostst while you are there.

(also recheck to make sure your hoses are ok.......I would also recommend getting 2 new hose clamps to hold the upper and lower hose in place on the new rad)

And get a Haynes or Chilton manual........they are very helpful......they show you step by step on how to do it.

I changed my rad with the ones CT sells, there double core and are really nice but not too expenive at all.

Took me a few hours to do mine as It was leaking ad.

BE SURE it's the rad leaking... cuz that's a pretty expensive mistake to make if all you need is a hose. I redid all my hoses, rad, thermostat... cost me close to $500 for all of it (on my Saturn). The hoses were still original and ugly, and the rad had started to go, so I replaced it before the weather turns ugly.

Ya i am pretty sure that it is my rad. I checked the hoses and they seemed fine. How much would a new thermostat cost me?

Also i am in london right now because i goto school here....i dont have any tools and am worried that if i drive home that my car will overheat. so i have no choice but to bring it to someone. I called around and right now crappy tire and speedy are the best prices...Of all the "big" companies where do you guys recommend i get it done?

thermostat $40 , i would buy an original honda one, not aftermarket crap

A honda rad takes 15 mins. to change, and is not messy. Make sure it;s not a head gasket. If the rad needs to be done, change the therm., and upper hose. Lower not as important.Chefck water pump.
