Radiator caps

I was just wondering do these actually help in cooling your engine or help your engine run cooler? Anyone have this, Octaneteddy??

Oh Yeah!!!

I hear that with the spoon rad cap, you can expect to gain 12-15 Wheel HP!!!!

They are actually high pressure rad caps. They increase the pressure in the rad raising the boiling point. This increses the cooling efficiency of the rad.

I heard that if you bought one of those or was it a thermostat that you were required one or the other...damn...can't remember...

but I guess if you're increasing the pressure and raising the boiling point, it's probably best to buy both the thermo and rad cap at the same time huh?

Thanks for the responses guys. But has or does anyone have this on their cars? I want to know if it really works. I don't want a new thermostat. Too hard to change

The radiator cap will help increase the boiling point of the fluid, and hold more pressure before it boils over to the resevoir. It's a worthwhile upgrade as long as you have a rad in good condition. Otherwise, it may crack or leak due to the increase in pressure.

I wouldn't recommend getting a thermostat upgrade unless you have heating issues, or drive the car year round. You'll have a hell of a time getting it up to normal operating temperature in the winter.

Hey Vince. I still have the stock rad and a/c rad in there. What should I look for on the rads to tell me I might need to replace it? It seems like after I got the valve adjustment, water pump and timing belt changed the temp passes just over 200F before the fan kicks in. Before all the changes it kicked in dead on at 200F.
