Racing ECU

I have a '93 Civic DX with a D15a, I was wondering if anyone knows whereabouts I could get this done, (the farther north of Toronto the better.) and also what kinda costs are involved in doing this. I'm told it can give a 10% or so increase in performance, my car is an automatic and anything to make it a bit peppier would help. Does it really help or no?

Sorry, I'll have to say no....

1. it's a 1.5L, no way in hell you'll get a 10% increase... at 102 hp it's as efficient as that engine will get w/o affecting reliability.

2. is an auto, any flywheel hp you gain... you lose 35% of it at the flywheel, so even if you spend $1500 doing mods to gain 10 hp, 35% of it gets wasted at the torque converter... reason being it's a hydraulic system, so kinda like having a prop in the water on a boat... get it?

it could...

budget, mileage, goals, uses, and how long are you keeping it for, and is it rusted? then, I can answer your question.

until then, no advice I give will be appropriate.

Budget, not alot. 500$ tops probably. 100k on it.
Goals, to make it a bit peppier, not a race car.
Uses, drive to school and work and around town.
Keeping until it falls apart and I get a job at the honda plant and buy a new one there. No major rust, a VERY small 'honda hole" is developing in on the rears, but im getting that taken car of.

See if you can find a d16z6 swap in your price range. The difference will be night and day (+ ~ 25hp + better gearing = faster car)

Might want to sell the car and buy a 5spd

There are a lot of cheap, well modified cars for sale here right now. You could probably pick one up for between 7-9k.

I really believe that this is the cheapest way for you to do it...

To be honest, $500 can't be spent anywhere on the engine in such a manner that it will make you feel like the $500 is well spent in terms of performance.

It's a really low mileage car... I like that. If you want to make it feel like it's a little faster, do what loudsubz did. $500 could prolly get you an auto->manual tranny swap, and you will DEFINITELY notice a difference!!! Not knocking auto trannies, but in terms of driveability, you just can't beat a manual.
