Any part that makes my car lower quality... I wouldn't take if they were GIVING it to me. Don't downgrade a great car.

There was a recent post about a member hating the Toms coilovers, and someone mentioned they are identical to the R1 coilovers. Draw your own conclusion...

I htink the only thing that persuades ppl into getting these coils are the price, ive felt the ride quality, it isnt that bad the only thing im worried about is the seizing

Lube it up a lot, if you are willing to, then you will be fine. If you are lazy, then they will seize. Overall, they ain't too bad.

They are not the same.....kinda......depending on when they were made, there are two different styles.

#1. red spring......1 gold locking ring.

#2. blue spring.....2 locking rings that must be tightened against each other.

#1. good.

#2. not as good......rings tend to seize up even when lubed.

The ones that are at AW are the first ones. (#1).

Which ones did he have.....single or dual locking rings......blue or red spring........how low did he go.......ect....ect....ect......?

I hate blanket statements without ALL the info.

By the way, both kinds are at Pac Mall for $249 - $279 for a set.

i've also hear that ractive coilovers are pretty springy, you need pretty stiff struts to minimize the bounce with them.

are these coilovers kind of the same deal?

I dont know why your trying to get people to buy these coilovers, its simple you get what u pay for, there made cheap thats why there so cheap. And for those who want to put these on you stock shocks, have fun.

First of all, I'm not trying to make anyone buy them.....

Second.....I just want poeple to understand why thier particular install went the way it did. Without knowing all the details, they are giving a false impression of these parts.

Ie.....

I can say that I had a set of Ground Control coilovers, and they road like ****. They were bouncy and had a very harsh ride, and I would advise people not to spend their money on these peices of crap!

Now.....if I had mentioned that I had lowered my car 3" on the stock struts.....also my struts were 8 years old and need to be replaced because they are leaking....and that I also have 17" rims with 204/40/17 tires.....it would make it obvious that ANY coilovers would perform the EXACT SAME WAY.

To say these coilovers are crap are a DISSERVICE to others in the club. I've seen these coilovers on 6 other cars so far. The only one that had a problem was the one that I gave an example of up above. (the leaking strut/17' rim comment).

ANY coilover installed improperly, and used in a manner not intended, WILL HAVE A HARSH RIDE......PERIOD.

They are not to be used on the road with a drop lower than 2" IMO. If you go lower than that, you are going to run into probs.

In the future, I would love to see that people would put ALL the info when it comes to any install they have done.

And that goes for ANY TYPE of install....ie stereo...perfomance parts....ect....

I've seen too many hack jobs that are blamed on the parts that were used, when the person that did the install should of been blamed.

ANY part when used/installed improperly will NOT have the intended outcome that the manufacturer had intended....that goes for any part you install on your car.

So untill ALL the info is know, please withhold your comments.

Thanks.

And as a side note, I'm not selling these....AW is.

Id save up a few extra and buy a set of used lowering springs. If you dont plan to lower very much just go springs instead. If your into track and like to push your car hard then go coils, but springs will give you a much better ride.

well with the way insurance is tring to fu@k with people....coilover are the way to go. Much easier to raise back up in under an hour, then back down.

$1000 will get you respectable shocks... and not much more. It's still not enough money. How many times have ppl said (to you directly) do it once and do it right WTF don't you understand about that? If you do wanna mod your car, then follow the advice... otherwise don't ask for advice.
