Quiet exhaust?
Hey guys
I was wondering if anyone has suggestions on a Quiet exhaust? I have had a couple civics now with magna flow cat backs and **** and they drive me nuts! I currently have a b16 witht he b16 trans. I didn't want to put an exhaust on her but because I have raised the compression by shaving the head, cams etc I think I am losing a lot by not doing the head high flow cat, and cat back exhaust. Anyone have any good suggestions? Thanks |
Apex'i WS catback. What I am using and is quiet and has a nice sound to it.

Go back to stock lol.. I went back to a stock SIR exhaust and its the best MOD I've done all year
|
you could also opt to have like a CRV or RSX exhaust modified to fit... if you want quiet, it depends more on the muffler design than anything else... also make sure you have a nice long resonator put in.
so your shopping list should include: 14 inch or longer resonator (the longer the better) muffler cat flex pipe flanges bolts plus the labour to fab up the piping and weld it all together. again, resonator is the key to a nice sounding exhaust. |
I hear good things about this Vibrant stealth muffler. Im going to look into it. Don't like my Magnaflow on the highway, its annoying.

Yeah, I had the magnaflow on my old 93 civic with a zc and that bastard was loud....
I could only imagine it with my b16 tranny on the 401. No offence but modifying a crv exhaust would be a complete waste of time. You can get them custom made for less money and less hastle! |
OEM ITR exhaust. The best mod I've done so far. Sensational!
|
how much work did it take to modify it and is it quiet???
|
ITR axle back should be bolt on to EK mid pipe.
|
vibrant stealth is LOUD but it doesn't get the amount of attention you get with a canister from cops. i have a 2.5 front to back with no resonator and it SCREAMS at WOT. if you want quiet and cheap, go with what charles said. itr axle back = no heat at all from cops.

My ITR exhaust is cat-back, and only needed about a 3" piece added after the resonator just before the axle bend. Then the tip needed to be extended 1.5" to reach the edge of my bumper. Very little mods.
It is nice and quiet, damn near stock sounding while grannying it around town, and it has a nice tone when driving spiritedly. |
thanks all...
does anyone know how the flowmaster catback would be? |
Definetly stay away from flow master. The idea on the website seems logical but you will get very ****ty almost metallic like vibrating sounds from their mufflers. Not a good choice for imports.

thanks moe and everyone else... looks like ITR exhaust
