quick steering assembly question

i just had a warranty work done on my car today...they replaced the whole steering rack assembly and my question is - does it really makes weird sound?(like hissing/humming) every time i turn from left to right whether a small turn to full turn?

is this something expected when its new?

thanks guys

11 hours is a lot... should have taken about 2-3 hours. unless there is something really difficult on a newer civic that gets in the way.

anyways... yeah a hissing noise is perfectly normal, it's the sound of hydraulic pressure. i think most of the time ppl don't notice it cuz it's just always there. unless it's abnormally loud...

why did they replace the rack???

i told you to take it back

lol. You shouldn't really hear the faint hissing in the passenger compartment.

But yeah like that drew guy said.. sounds like a wheel bearing you might want to check that out LOL

i figured he was exaggerating the faint hissing into psyching himself into thinking something was wrong.

anyways, a lil pump hissing is normal... obviously what you experienced is not. I guess the subtleties of the noise get lost over the internet haha
