Quick Exhaust Question(s)

I have custom piping on my EK sedan leading to a rather noisy canister-style muffler. The piping is 2.25" or 2.5". After some searching and reading through the forums, it looks like the stock 99-00 SIR muffler might be a nice, quiet replacement.

Should it be an easy fit?

Also, I don't like the look of regular EK stock mufflers - is the SIR muffler slightly wider?

If you don't have a resonator in your custom piping, I would suggest that you look into one. Get a nice long one, like 16" or something and have a muffler shop cut and weld it in place.

As for the SiR exhaust fitting, I don't think it will bolt on, but it could be welded on fairly easily; I think it really depends on what your custom piping is like. The SiR exhaust has a bit bigger tip than stock and it is chrome or polished metal.

Search the board here and you will find much more information on SiR exhausts.

I read that the resonator will only drop the noise only by 5dB. What's my best bet (and cheapest) way to get the sound as close to stock as possible?

put your stock exhaust back on or buy a used stock exhaust.

Thanks for the info. A stock exhaust seems kind of drastic, plus I don't like the look as mentioned before. So will the resonator will make more of a difference than the SIR muffler?

There was a thread on this a while ago. The title of it was SiR Exhaust Compatability.
