Questions : Experts Please help

I'm looking into buying a civic.

I need to convince my dad that goign civic will be better than buying a chevy cavilier.

he claims the cavilier is low maintence etc.

what about the civic? how do they compare?

if i was to buy a civic it would be a 95.

get a 92-95 hatch lets see... it is very hard to put this in a nice way, but let me try...... caviliers suck. They can not hold their value if you were to stuff the car with money. My business partner works at GM as a master tech, and HATES those things. Points to be made to your dad... you will like the civic, therefore, you will treat it good... if you dont like a car, how are you going to treat it? Good luck

Well from a maintenence point of view, For example. I got 160,000km out of my original brakes(minus the front pads, I changed them at 120,000km) A guy i know has one of thos old wagons, think its a civic wagon or something, either way its a honda engine, I saw the odometer it said 498,000km original engine, doesnt burn a drop of oil... Consider it lucky to have a GMs brakes last over a 60,000km warrenty... POS thats just my 2cents...

I got no beef with cavaliers... GM products in general are better than any other American car maker.

it's just that Honda and Toyota... Nissans on good days are better 100% of the time than even the best GM products... the value for dollar ratio is MASSIVE.

Now, if you want a cheap shitbox that you'll constantly be working on, get a Neon... if you want a shitbox that you CAN do some work on, get a Cavalier... if you want a car to get you around, get a Civic. Problem is, Civic owners are mostly young punks, and unfortunatley these Civics get the **** kicked outta them. Over a older Civic that some punk owned, vs an older 98-ish Cavalier Z24 with a clean record of maintenance, I'd take the Cavalier... Most Civic owners are young punks LOL Hahaha j/k

any car can be lower maintenance... it just depends how you drive it.... but obviously if a honda/ toyota was driven exactly the same as any american car the japanese would win hands down

my whole family has fords and my car currently has well over double the millage of any one elses car in my family... and everyone else is in the shop every other month or so for this or that... the last thing to go on my car was the distributor which seized... and that was about 2 years and about 75 000 kms ago
