questions about mods...
ok guys bear with me although i am an enthusiast i am new to the world of spending all your freakin money on a tin can...however...i am curious and want to learn...my new car has Type R exhaust, which apparently is pretty quiet (And I like a little noise) but is one of the best....any input on how or why its different from any other types...and what are the advantages and disadvantages? All my friends (who are hardcore honda kids) say to leave it how it is....actually they tell me not to do anything to the car its perfect as it is but like any of us can own a car and not do something to it....so if anyone wants to enlighten me as to the specs on exhaust..please do so...im not stupid just learning!

The ITR exhaust is pretty good if you want something that's fairly free-flowing and quiet. Many of the aftermarket exhausts on the market will probably generate more power, but it comes at the expense of quietness. Ofcourse, power gains/losses will be negligible based on the mods that you have. If you want some more sound, you can always switch it to another exhaust.

I agree with SW20.
Well, in my opinion, keep the ITR exhaust. There's no real big/noticable difference in power gains between an aftermarket one and the ITR one, unless you're doing some heavy engine mods. If you're not planning on engine mods, then just keep the ITR muffler. If you're gonna spend money to change that exhaust, you might as well spend that amount of cash under the hood first.

NO NO NO - you guys are ALL wrong.
The ITR exhaust is a POS. What you need to do is swap it out for something that "generates more power".
When you have done that - please call me because I want to buy your ITR exhaust!!! $25 sound okay?

Just keep the ITR muffler and the cat on. If anything, just get a custom mandrel bent cat back exhaust enlarged by 1/4 inch. If you're gonna be doing some heavier mods to the motor, then swap on a more free flowing muffler.

More noise yes, more power no. Also the potential for a large ticket as mentioned. Why bother?

its highly unlikely that ul get a ticket for no cat, like i say ive been pulled over many times and they never even notice, most cops r idiots anyways they only notice what they can see such as ride height, headlights etc...i dunno maybe i just have alot of luck, but anyways yes u get more noise and not necessarily power however ur engine does breathe much easier cuz the gases exit straight out

the good thing is that my car ran STRONGER and SMOOTHER with the cat installed...so in my experience, it makes no sense to remove it.
