Question - Type R Style upper strut bar on EG

You got the 2 bolt holes on each end.
And i know where they bolt upto
Its a bit too cold outside to fiddle with it. So i thought id just ask. Maybe someone knows.

The holes that they match upto on the chassis.
I had little rubber plugs in them
Are these holes threaded for bolts already?
Or do i have to lift the front end up, giving room for my hands to fit up in the wheel wells to stick a bolt in?

lucky guys. I had to drill holes, fabricate a backing plate, and double nut the other side.

yeah the 6th gen guys don't get those holes :P. i wouldn't put a type r bar on though. they're a solid bar but not very strong at all.

only 92-93 have those holes and no they are not threaded... you have to put bolt in from underneath and nut it on the top... atleast that how everybody else does it.

hate to break it to you but the majority of all strut bars are the same and do the same job. if you understand how one actually works, an ebay one will do the same thing as a neuspeed one. although a solid bar would be stronger, a proper fitting 3 piece strut bar would accomplish the same thing. you are paying for the name and look. dont say this is better then that when it is not, say this looks better or this brand name is more jdm then this one, but in the end its all the same. the only diff would be on some cars, some bars can have a 3rd mounting point on the firewall which provide more stability, but i believe civics dont have this option so its out of the question.

any old car with strut towers that are not connected to the firewall could benefit from a 3 pt strut bar. all the new cars that come out have the strut towers connected to the firewall to improve structural integrity and they STILL come with solid strut tower bars. well at least that's what i noticed with a lot of toyotas that i work on.

please explain how an ebay strut tower bar with pivot joints is the SAME as a solid bar? if the bar was off the car i could move the pivot joints with a little force. so it would flex with the chassis because the car is carrying even more force than my bare hands. sorry but i have to disagree with you. solid bar > ebay bar with pivot joints. i even cut my ebay one in half just to see how it is inside and it's hollow. it's not nearly as stiff as my neuspeed one.

A big factor to look at also is the material its made out of

For example take a Ractive upper strut bar. Bolts upto the shock mount bolts. If you were to cut it in half... Youd see the skinniest aluminum rod with a plastic coating.

Then an OEM Type R solid bar.. Yes it is hollow also. but the walls are thicker and it has channels to strengthen it a bit more
