Question on mount kit for b18b swap

1993 civic si hb (EG) - to pop in a b18b how much do mounts costs? Any info you can provide on this swap/mounts to use etc would be helpful.

Thanks :richslap:

cosmic zx2 09-Mar-2003 05:42 PM

no new mounts needed

Civic Chick 10-Mar-2003 04:43 PM

are you sure I don't need mounts? I was told I did...now I am confused! :blush:

bbarbulo 10-Mar-2003 04:45 PM

You don't need any aftermarket ones. SiR mounts bolt the engine right in since it's a 6th gen body, and it has a B-series already in it. Integra mounts can be modified to fit (and some of them just fit w/o mods). Check out honda.hybrid-perf.org

Civic Chick 10-Mar-2003 05:39 PM

ya but my car is a 1993 civic si not a 6th gen sir so i don't think it fits without mounts.....

cluster 10-Mar-2003 05:45 PM

5th - 6th same ****

you'll need 3 SI-R and one GS-R i belive

cuz of the B18 tranny

imported_gatherer 10-Mar-2003 06:07 PM

no aftermarket engine mounts needed the b18 should bolt right in... what are you planing to do with the stock engine when done the swap?? I might be interested...

bbarbulo 10-Mar-2003 07:48 PM

streetXtreme just did a swap on his...PM him. Jugglez also has a swap, I think he'd know :rolleyes: 5th gen is even easier than a 6th gen...

Civic Chick 10-Mar-2003 10:05 PM

thanks for the output guys...i really need a solid answer regarding the b18b engine into the 1993 honda civic si hb..does jugglez have icq?

gatherer you don't want my engine...it has 345,100km and it is running off 3 cyl with no heat.....it has no life left in it...it runs but does a whole bunch of funky things hehe....the head gasket is gone for sure among other things!!!!!
:umbrella:

swap info;

Sorry boyz but you are All WRONG!

Don't mean to bust yer bubble but obviously NONE of you have done any swap's yourselves, or have actually done any real research to do one. I have done 5 swap of various b series engines in 5th gen and 6th gen civics and yes do DO use different mounts in certian applications.

Now, for your B18B in a 5th gen h/b you need the following;

- B18B Engine/tranny
- b-series axles
- b-series shift linkage
- OBD 1 B18B ECU
- Del Slow VTEC ('94-'97) or Integra (any '94-'01) rear engine mount BRACKET
- Integra ('94-'00) or Civic ('94-'95) driver's side upper engine mount (big fat silver one)
- re-use your civic torque mounts on the b-series lower tranny bracket, and a/c compressor bracket
- upper tranny mount/bracket is the **ONLY** mount/bracket combo that is REUSED
- B18B throttle cable ($18 my price from ACURA; ....I have an account at North Toronto Acura :D)
- B18B upper and lower rad hoses (and get the screw type clamps to tighten the bigger B18B rad hoses on to the smaller civic rad outlets)
-oh and I strongly rec'd using your stock engine harness on the swap; you know it's good and it works, eventough you'll have a few extra unused connectors on the B18B motor (no vtec wiring)
- EXCEPT if you get a '96-01 OBD II motor; then you will HAVE to use a USDM OBD II (version A or B as it applies) engine harness and plug it into the Civic car harness and it'll be fine (OBD II motors use different injector connectors from OBD 1, etc etc etc...)

Only other issuse is the exhaust;

- the B18B front pipe flange is on a differnt angle from the Civic cat and will NOT bolt on.....
- there are a few option's;
...get a custom cat to fit the space and flange inbetween the front pipe and the civic center pipe
...or (like I did on my JDM B18C swap) use an ITR cat and ITR b-pipe and it'll line up and fit perfectly to the civic muffler (ITR and B18B front pipe are the same length, and have the same angle flange)

...got any more questions just e-mail me;

...oh and BTW, I'm a licenced Honda Technician. :D

:cheers:

good luck!

in other words all the mounts that should come stock with your B18B will work fine in your 5th gen Si.

as long as the engine comes with stock mounts you don't have to go looking for new mounts. which i'm pretty sure cosmic was trying to say in the 1st reply, he's got a b18b in a 5th gen as well.

this was the case for my swap and every other 5th gen B18B swap i've looked at.

bbarbulo 11-Mar-2003 08:41 AM

Solid Alibye, I believe that's what we're saying...no AFTERMARKET mounts are needed. Just what's either in the car or on the engine. :shrugs: How are we wrong :confused: There are a lot of guys here with swaps.... A LOT! some did it themselves, some got it done.

Thanks for the info nonetheless :cheers:

yup... no need to go out and get new mounts :thumbup:
unless the engine you're buying doesn't have them

Civic Chick 11-Mar-2003 04:13 PM

ok ok....thank you solid for that wonderful detailed explanation....I would like for you to contact me because I want you to do my swap...i am printing out your notes.

Thanks everyone else as well...

What does (version A or B) mean? One or two piece harness?
It appears that I have a one piece harness. I don't see any connectors that plug into the strut tower. It has the connectors for OBD II ecu.
So does this mean I'll have to use a OBD II ecu with a 96+ integra motor and this wiring harness.
Problem is I have an integra OBD1 ecu. I was told to get a wiring harness from a 96+ integra and to plug it into the trut tower and use the OBD1 ecu.

Do I have to get an OBD II ecu?

Thanks!:thumbup:
