i have a 90 zc motor and i have been using castrol fully synthetic oil with fram filter. i usually spend $45 on the supplys and i do it myself for free of charge in my garage. i was wondering if it is worth it to spend all that money on oil changes like every 2 mths, does my motor need fully synthetic oil b/c people are telling mew thats its not good to use it on my motor and i am just wasting my money. some help please, thanx

well since u're using synthetic now i guess you should probably just stick with it since your motor is fairly old. i heard that it's not good to switch back to regular oil if u've been using synthetic.

Check the colour of your oil regularly, if it gets dirty fairly quickly that means you have significant engine wear and all the crap that's accumulated over the years is coming off.... if this is the case then you're wasting your cash, because all that nasty carbon buildup and gunk is preventing the synthetic oil from doing it's job.

On the other hand... if it has been fed with synthetic for a very long time then you should probably stick with it, regardless.

They say not to switch back to conventional oil from synthetic, bacause really, what is the point? Synthetic oil is more advanced, and the addtivives last longer creating less engine wear. You still must change synth oil just as often as conventional, because there'll still be carbon deposits inside the engine. Listen, I know because I've been doing nothing but oil changes everyday for more than a decade. Also, engine oil does not necessarily get dirty just because of engine wear. One of the main purposes of oil is to clean the inside of an engine. Therefore, if your oil was really dirty before an oil change and remained dirty afterwards, that's because the new oil is simply doing its' job... cleaning. If you're using synth oil, continue to use it and avoid unnecessary engine wear. It should also give you better gas mileage...amongst other things. Disregard that 'shadetree' mechanic myth about switching back to conventional oil and vice versa. If there is a logical explanation for why you can't switch back, I'd really like to know... and not from some backyard or shadetree mechanic.

i just did my sunthetic oil change today and emiision test on my dohc zc....past with flying colours.........and my gas cap was faulty, but the guy hoocked it up.....and my oil change costed me 65 .......cause he said he uses motul oil synthetic...........from france.....is it really worth it too spend that much...........

also, he gave me some extra oil for free cause i haev a slight leak between the engline anf thetranny.....well it doesn;t leak ,its just sitting there,,,,,,,,,
