Question about silencer..

Do anyone know what difference will it make after putting a silencer on?? I think the tip of my cat-back is about 2 1/2" - 3"... but not sure though... i think it's kind of loud sometimes but i'm not sure if it will slow the car down after putting a silencer in, or will it make the car faster when at low-mid rpm? I was just wondering becuase i was thinking by decreasing the diameter of the tip and limiting the air flowing out might force the air to compress and forces it out... so making the low-mid range faster... I asked my friend about it and he told me that it will slow the car down becuase the air will just be forced back into the engine... I don't really know much about cars but i think my cat-back is annoying sometimes and attracts too much unwanted attension... If it will only slow the car down by a slight bit then i think i'll just put it on. It is a 94SI with stock engine, 4-2-1 header, CAI... if anyone have ideas please let me know, thanks

I've got a silencer in my exhaust 'cause its too loud otherwise, plus cops will harass you for a loud exhaust any chance they get. For my exhaust the silencer quiets it down a whole lot. By the way, is there a silencer available for your exhaust ?

exhausts look sort of stupid with silencers, but for the quiter ride and cop thing, their worth it

Fireball and N1 exhausts are designed from the endurance racing circuit, where the cars spend all day long at 6000-9000 rpm, so unless you actually drive like that, these are not good exhausts for you guys. Just a little tid-bit I thought you'd wanna know, for the benefit of those looking to buy an exhaust system.
