question about collar dampers

the collar damper (as honda calls it) is the 1.5 inch X 0.5 inch cylinder shaped piece that goes over the strut rod and wedges between the two rubber bushings near the top part of the strut. i've noticed all four have been left out of the installation.

my question is do the new bushings included with my new struts (tokicos) not require these collars?

or is this another screw up by elder/eldon or whatever his name is at altech?????

do you mean bump stops?? like yellow spongy looking things? Cuz those are supposed to be trimmed and put back into place, unless your Tokicos came with their own bumpstops?

12 is what you are talking about right? This collar goes in between the two bushings (#6 in pic) that go through the spring mount (#7 in pic). And i would say YES you do need them. I used them when i installed my tokico advanced handling kit (springs and illumina's)
That kinda sucks that ur shop didn't use them. B/C now you have to rip out ur shocks and use a spring compressor to disassemble and reassemble w/the collar damper.
Good luck and have fun, its not a hard job just kinda time consuming considering that your shop should have used them.

yes, part number 12 on the front struts but its part 3 on the rears

i can't believe i paid $70/hr and have them screw up like this. they also forgot to put in spacers on the rear struts. and to think they are a trusted vendor on here.

well i'm going to call them soon and see what they can do for me.

oh yeah, would taking out the nut ( #14) and the washer (#5) so that you can push the collar (#12) into the two bushings from on top work also? i guess the holes have to be perfectly aligned to do so, huh?
