my friend can get a good deal on a b17 complete swap, he has a 92 dx hb, does the motor swap in or are mods needed? also is that swap worth the effort? i havent heard of to many b17 eg's..

it's a b16 with a little more displacement (different crank, longer stroke, same B16A head). go for it.

yeah if you eventually take that B17 out of the car and build a B20 monster ... keep the crankshaft since that one will give you a wicked rod to stroke ratio meaning the bottom end will be capable of 10000 RPM easy.

They are so old that at this point price varies very widely. The standard deviation of that price is quite possibly over 1000%.
