Q: Piston question w/ boosted engine!

Hey guys, with a D16Z6 on boost, if i wanted to run low psi, what kind of low compression factory pistons could i use, what aftermarket, and what would be max psi?
Keep in mind i'm not spending alot of money, trying to build a poor man's turbocharged car! Let me know, thanks.

Has this ever been done??? The Vitara is a V6 right? So what you are telling me is that i can take 4 of the 6 pistons, and just "drop" them into a D16Z6 block without having to send anything out to a machine shop??? You mean i can do all this at home?

I need specs on these pistons, i need to do some more research on this matter! If you guys can let me know the specs of these, make, model, year, piston size, etc... what ever a machine shop would need to know so that i could track some of these down, thanks.

I will post up this info..
99-2003 SOHC 4 cylinder Vitara.

Pistions
----Standard 74.970-74.990mm
----Oversize 0.25mm 75.220-75.230mm
----Oversize 0.50mm 75.470-75.480

This is how they have them labeled on order sheets....
Iam not sure about the mark1 and mark 2 differences.
12100-61850-0A0 Pistion set (std, mark 1)
12100-61850-0B0 Pistion set (std, mark 2)
12100-61850-025 Pistion set (OS:0.25)
12100-61850-050 Pistion set (OS:0.50)

If you are seriuos there is a guy on Honda-tech named Fjt or Ftj that sells REPLACEMENT knock off vitara pistions for cheap.
On a side note...you have to buy HONDA or aftermarket rings for these pistons. DONT BUY VITARA RINGS.

the guy on Honda-Tech gives you the pistons and rings.... the combo I think has been good for about 15 lbs and about 270 hp so far, maybe more. also check turbod16.com or whatever that site is....

the pistons arent you problem dude dispite what the bruno dude is saying. your rods will go before the pistons will and thats not even the key, tuning is the key. ive seen $10,000 engines blow because the tuner sucked

yup yup...i'd say allocate 1/3 (if not more) of your budget for engine management/tuning

he asked about pistons, he never mentioned anything about wanting rods too

stock rods are good for about 200 whp +/-
