Pulley
#2
Three ways to go about it...smaller crank pulley, or smaller accessory pullies, or both. I recommend mixing and matching appropriately. For example, I would do a combo of underdrive crank and alternator pulley, since I have no A/C, no stereo (two major power drainers), plus will have HID (lower current draw), and will get rid of my power steering too with a CX rack. That right there may be a 7-10 reduction in HP losses...but the water pump should not be underdriven, I don't think. I would only use reputable company parts....Honda has approved AEM for use on their cars...so I imagine their underdrive pulleys would be a good setup.

If you get a different-than-stock diameter crank pulley, you will need a different size timing belt. If you just get a stock-sized crank pulley that's lighter than stock, you will get some performance gains and keep the same charge from the alternator.

so I should keep the same size but go with the lighter pulley. Got ya.
What about alt. pulley? Does the above apply also? Looking to free up 5hp around, is that possible with no changes to the electrical charging system. I did got rid of my sound system. The head unit is still there, and it does take up alot of power.

Bigger??? Not possible...that would take up MORE power. Remember, these are being UNDERDRIVEN, not OVERDRIVEN...so they would have to be smaller, no? Am I mistaken somehow? Either way, EK7_DM, we can't tell you what mod is right for you...you buy, you try, you decide for yourself. We have furnished you with all we know...yes, you will free up probably 3-5 hp, plus you can remove your power steering if you want. You should notice this extra power. It will be the difference between driving in 30 degree heat, or -5 degree cold...about the same power difference. The proper setup...you buy a kit...install one at a time and test....install all, and test....determine your needs from there. I think the whole kit is fine for you if you don't have a system. A head unit likely won't take more than 10 amps most of the time.

True, I read that the some of the pulley would hurt your engine, but some cars have belt driven water pump, by changing the pulleys it would slow the water pump down and it would cause over heat.
What kind of damages can the pulleys do? What do I have to look out for? Planning on getting my angel eyes this week end and maybe the pulleys too.
