its when i start to accelerate, or if im 4'th or 5'th and going a lttile too slow for it but hit the gas anyways... it starts sputtering.

opened up the distribtuer, its clean.. has 1 yr old plugs and ran some fuel injector cleaner through about 5 months ago

My friend had a similar problem at low revvs... suggested he pop off the intake and spray a little throttle body cleaner... and voila!

I do Believe that is totally normal if your in way to high of a gear for what you should be and you start to slowly accellerate say your driving down the highway in 4th and slow down b/c some jackass is biking on the side and then you start to gain your speed again but you don't down shift you should experiance sputtering my advice down shift

don't listen to 75% of the advice in this thread

you do NOT PLAY with the IACV... the IACV is controlled by the computer and there are no provisions for you to 'play' with it. One may clean the carbon from it, and that is all.

you do NOT play with the idle screw setting. I'll say it for the 100th time... it's set at the factory on A FLOW BENCH, so unless you have a flow bench, DO NOT **** WITH IT! If the screw wasn't a problem yesterday, then why would it all of a sudden become a problem today??

The way you describe driving it (4th / 5th gear at low speed) has a couple of things wrong with it. Mainly the driver!!! You have a transmission, MAKE USE OF IT!! Select the right gear for your speed. Cruizing RPM should be 2500+ rpm. Accel RPM, SHIFT DOWN from the cruizing speed. Based on you driving habits, you prolly have a LOT of carbon buildup in your engine. Also, do you use premium gas? Sounds to me like the engine is pulling back timing due to the high engine load at such low RPM, and therefore you feel this "bogging" you attempt to describe. So Seafoam the carbon out of your engine, then use only premium gas, and make use of that 5 speed stick on the floor next to you.

Well you can listen to me then since i am one of the few in the 25% bracket that knows what they are talking about. It could be your driving habits or it could be an ignition system problem wheather it be your wires, or something else. Your descrpition tells me at low RPM is Sputters and bogs. You may even periodically feel it sputter for a bit when you increase your speed. Whether it it intermittantly does that or not i don't know but, Check your ignition wires, "EVEN IF THEY ARE NEW" Check them or try a different set if you have some handy.

I have come across numerous complaints like that and most of them have been ignition wires.
