Problem When turning the Wheel
 

Today when I got to school and was parking up, i turned the steering wheel and started to hear this squeaking noise. I played with the wheel by turning it left and right and it kept making the noise. After I started driving home later in the afternoon, the noise was still there. The noise is originating from the driver side wheel well. It sounds like a loud whining when I turn the wheel. I know my CV boot was torn for quite some time now, and I just got a car wash two days ago with an underspraying. Could that have finally dried out the CV joint? Or is it something else?

How is your power steering fluid levels?

It's full.

imo it could also be the steering column...bring it to a shop

I just found out that the CV joint would make a clicking sound rather than the one i'm hearing. Someone also suggested checking the power steering belt tension and adding some dressing to it. But if it were the belt, would the noise only originate from the driver side?

could be anything suspension, ball joints etc

I think i just ruled out power steering. I lubed up the belts and stuff and it still made the noise. So i turned the car off and tried turning the wheel and it still made the noise.

I'm so lost on this. I recently replaced the shocks/springs like a couple weeks ago...so ya.

Any other tips?

worm ball joints, posibly tie rod ends, maybe even wheel bearings. dont apply dressing to the belt because it shortens the life of it

my car has a similar problem too
but its the steering column squeeking when i turn it......
it only happens when its really cold like its cold and i haven't drive my car for several like 5-8 hrs.......
however, after i heat up the inside of the car and its all warm... the squeeking is gone...
can this due to cold weather only or something is wrong with my steering wheel? anything related like lubrication???

I diagnosed it today with the help of T-I.

I took it in and got the upper ball joint replaced after fooling around in my garage to determine whether it was the upper or lower.

Pop off your steering column covers and spray some WD-40 up in there. Turn the wheel to each side and spray some more.

First of all, get that CV boot replaced! Then maybe put the car on a ramp and crawl under it for a quick visual. Some problems may be easily visible, like a busted tie rod end. Dunno if its a tie rod end tho...that usually makes a click sound if it snapped off. Possibly ball joint, probably not wheel bearing.
