Problem with handbrake! Need help!
I knwo this isn't really a performance topic, but I just had my rear drums replaced by a friend, before the hand brake never really worked, but it did hold the car, just not very good. But now that I got it back with the new drums on the parking brake lever is always like 1 notch engaged so that the light on my cluster is permantly on. Also when I went to put the handbrake on I pulled it on and nothing happened, car keep moving, so I pulled it even tighten and still nothing. So my friend said you have to tighen it by going in reverse, so I tried that and nothing. Does anyone know what the problem is? ps the brakes work great no noises or anything.

???
when handbrake's on... car should not move forward even car's in gear and throttled.
Without engine running... pull the handbrake. and at the same time have someone look underneath to check handbrake wire movement. if it stuck or doesn't move, sth is wrong.
if adjustment in the drum is ok and wire seems to work fine, adjust the wire behind the lever. rear of console. that should fix the problem.

jack the car up
jack the car up at the back. spin the wheels with your hands. See if the parking brake does anything - also check if the normal brakes are working!
Then, remove the drum and looking at the brake assembly, reach behind to the inside of the assembly and use a slot screwdriver from this side (under the car), which allows you to see your screwdriver turning a circular sprocket - its the only one. You'll notice that you can move it one way more easlily than the other... tighten ... loosen.... etc.
Its late, i'm probably not very clear.
Turning this sprocek "tightens" up the brake cable on that particular drum.
Do this for both wheels. -evenly
Jerk the handbrake a few times. I SAID THE HANDBRAKE, or you'll make a mess, lol.
Using your hand, spin the wheels one at a time any try to "feel" a slight amount of drag, almost none, but equal on both sides. Things will work themselves in with time. I like to readjust the next day.
hope i helped. it works on my car for over 2 years now.
