that is another possibility .. but ussually those have fail safes so that when they fail they fail in the open position

After you drove to work and let it sit for a while, did you go and check it afterwards to see if, by chance, anything was leaking?

I have seen that before with the head gasket...sometimes when the engine is that hot - the fluids evaporate while the engine is still warm - let 'er cool down and take a look.

Well, seeing as it's bloody cold enough out - I doubt it's going to evaporate off the ashfault underneath. Next time you go for a smoke break or whatever - just peek at 'er.

Bahahaha... no, a blown head gasket doesn't leak **** everywhere. LOL I love the way you put that... I envisioned this engine just steaming and leaking everywhere hahahaha

I'm such a nerd...

a blown head gasket is very difficult to diagnose... my buddy blew his h/g on a new Si Veloz turbo and his had to be chemically diagnosed by testing for combustion by-products in the coolant.

I've seen some bubble exhaust gas through the coolant, I've seen some spew white smoke from the exhaust... some with milky white oil, some with oil in the coolant, etc etc... a h/g failure can manifest itself in many ways, depending on where exactly it's broken.

whoa... hold up... why?? what's the big deal? chain drive timing, then undo the engine mount, remove the exhaust and intake manifolds and remove the head. It's just like every other car.

I like Saturns...

ok i just ran outside and underneath the driver's side corner of the front of the car there was a puddle...it didn't look like coolant though and it felt a lot like engine oil.

shoulda popped the hood...

Neons leak oil when they blow thier head gaskets, that's why the dr side back of the block is always covered in oil on those cars.
