Problem adjusting coilover
 

Hello,
I need to raise my car up a bit, and the wrench system that comes with the coilovers is rather confusing. I need to know which way to turn each wrench?
top wrench=Left and bottom wrench =Right,
or
top wrench=Right and bottom wrench=Left

if anyone could tell me how, or even show the position of your hands on the wrench in a picture that would be great...i just dont know if i'm tightening it or loosening it....

Standard threads
counter clockwise = left to right = adjust up
clockwise = right to left = adjust down.

Easiest way to do it would be to hold the adjuster(spring perch) that is nearest the spring(top) then turn the lower locknut down.(right to left)

Adjust the lower lockdown down approximately 1" from the upper adjuster(spring perch) then adjust your height with the upper adjuster from there. When your satified with the height, Hold the upper adjuster(spring perch) and tighten the locknut turning from left to right.

Phew.

also, if the threads are dirty spray some WD-40 on the threads and get all of the crap off. This will make turning the adjusters much easier....i used to do mine by hand, i never used the wrenches.

so to turn the lower locknut down, you say right to left, but to turn it counter clockwise above you say left to right? Which is it, turning right on the top, and turning left on the bottom? or turning left on the top and turning right on the bottom?

to loosen the lower, hold the top and turn the bottom from right to left(clockwise)

well, now that my wrenches are broken...i'm stuck

this is not something I can get out of words, i would need a pic

FIXED IT!!!
one of my wrenches was broken, but I used a screwdriver to pound it loose while the 1st wrench on top gave me support
now just gotta put the tire back on and hopefully have everything setting just right :thumbup:

big channel locks, if you dont mind some scratches. That;s what I had to use. They seemed to work

I use a big straight screw driver and a hammer to adjust mine. Although depending on what type of steel your rings are made of this may not be a good idea. My problem is that using the proper wrenches a can only turn the nut about a eigth turn at once making adjustments very time consuming.
