Prevent disc and drum from rusting

Hey, I want to know how I can prevent the drum and disc from rusting? I just got brand new disc and drums.

Now, I was thinking about spraying the drum and center part of the disc with clear coat. Would that help? Or should I do it with CLEAR rust proof paint (if there is such a thing)?

THX!

i just sprayed mine with high-heat flat black..and when i washed the car i dryed them best i could. easy to do. take a news paper and a large folgers coffee can. trace the coffee can and cut that circle..it fits perfectly over the hub of the front disks. then double sided tape and boom your ready for paint...hehe, alittle tip.

If I remember correctly, drums come black from the factory...the paint will likely flake off regardless of what you put on there. The only way to prevent rust would be to not drive in rain and winter. Maybe smother them in vaseline, but I wouldn't go putting that ish on your brakes.

paint em whatever ya want, high-heat cear coat will work but it won't cover up any rust there now...its clear. it will help rust some but not much. if ya paint a colour, whatever colour ya want (There are like 20 to choose from with high-heat paint) then you can cover up the rust by touching the brakes up every 4-6 months.

I notcied after 1 winter with my old car that the paint i did on the drums was looking weathered. I think the calipers held up pretty well.

Get some of those fake disc brakes to cover over your drums, then it would not matter if they were rusty!

just buy some hammercoat finish paint...looks like the same cast metal as they are when bare (no paint)...thus, they will look stock and stay rust free longer

If you drive your car and not let it sit. it will grind some rust off as you drive. as for drums... thats a different story. you have to paint it. I'm gonna do it next week i'll do yours to.
