No, the Si does not come w/power steering. At least, (the cdn model). But with good high performance treads, good suspension, and strust bar you'll be just fine. P.S it also helps to go to the gym before driving it bone stock. LOL.

with sticky performance tires, the steering effort is even higher, and of course i am talking about low speed condition. and suspension and struct bars got nothing to do with steering effort.
but it does help going to the gym to built up some muscles.

forgot to mention, pop the hood and if you see a grey bottle with red caps, then you have power steering. it's located on the driver side in the engine compartment (at least in a honda anyway).

I disagree, I own a 4th gen and used to have cheap motomaster tires on and the steering was so tight. Once i got on rims wrapped in bridgestone potenzas, then strapped on a strut bar, the steering effort was a lot easier in tight parking spots and going 140 aroung turns on the highway

there are 2 possibilities as to why your steering loosen up, first of all, is the 4th gen your first car with no power steering? if it is, then you are not use to driving a car with no power steering, and how long have you been driving on the cheap motomaster tires before you got the good rubber? possibility number two is you learned the "secret" on driving non-power steering car and when the new tires was put on, you are concentrating on how the new tires are doing and such, add that with the new skill you've acquired, which made you think the steering actually loosen up.

the above comment was the result of what info you've stated and my experience. in a way, you are not comparing apples to apples. try turning a non-powered when the car is stationary with cheap tires and "high performance treads", i am quite sure that the "high performance treads" will require more effort. adding to that, going at any speed will be hell a lot easier than going at 0km/h and turning the steering.

as to your strut bar helping to loosen the steering effort, if you know what does a strut bar actually do, then i can't imagine why you would think a strut bar actually help to loosen the steering. maybe you can show me another bar that i can put on to increase the effort i need to turn my steering in my 6 gen. i really want to decrease the power going to my steering, it's too light, i am serious.

btw, i am not trying to be a **** *****, i am only telling what i know and maybe you can enlight me on something that i don't.

I've heard...

That people have put power steering onto their 4th gens buy getting the parts (steering rack, reservoir, pump, hoses, etc) from a 4th gen civic seden EX (Only available in the states I believe). Don't know if it's true or what. But i've read somewhere that it's been done and works. I personally wouldn't mess with it cause non power assisted steering is the best except when parking

no power steering can be good, more power to the engine. and more incentive to learn to parallel park in mother high speed.
