Possible VSS problem?

Once in a while the spedometer drops down and hovers around 30kms/hr regardless or the actual speed but then starts working again after a while. I have no idea if this is a vss problem or whether it is something else. It's a b16a2 with approximately 90k on it and I have never experienced this problem before and I haven not tampered with anything that could have caused this problem. I just want to have this problem fixed before I sell the car next month.

I had the same problem with my 98. It was also showing a cel code which was for a faulty VSS. I replaced it with a slightly used one from a D16 that had been swapped out of another car.

Well i don't have a cel, maybe i can try swapping clusters first to eliminate the cluster and then try swapping the vss to eliminate that.

Is there a test i can do for the vss without having to swap it?
