Okay, I think this is a brake relay problem.

My car was working fine, I own an auto civic, right now I can't shift gears when I step on the brake, nor do the brake lights ever come on, I have to by pass shifting gears, but sticking the key in the hole beside the shifter.


Will i have to replace anything or check any fuses?

please let me know I really want to fix this problem.

Sounds like maybe the brake light switch that also engages the shifter lockout solenoid is acting up and likely needs to be replaced.

Check the fuses. Also check the brake light bulbs to see if they are all working. See if the horn works too. If the fuse is fine it could be what Thrill_House said.
