Please help, crx brake question

I have a 1990 crx si, but I bought by mistake crx dx front pads and rotors...will they go on my si?

thanks in advance!

imported_Joe_98Si 11-Aug-2006 12:27 AM

yes everything will go on

alon 11-Aug-2006 12:29 AM

thanks for the reply...is it going to make any difference in braking power?

Cynikal.Mindset 11-Aug-2006 10:01 AM

they are the same part numbers...same ****

alon 11-Aug-2006 10:11 AM

thanks for all the help!

imported_Cablerat 11-Aug-2006 11:02 AM

hmm.. at first I was thinking they wouldn't, but then I realized that's for EGs.

EG DX pads and rotors won't fit an si.

alon 11-Aug-2006 11:04 AM

to be honest I dont know if they are eg or dx, I bought them in a bulk buy of a bunch of brake parts for a crx, but it didnt say from what model...I just assumed they were dx. Im not sure if I have the boxes for the rotors still...how could I make sure?

imported_Cablerat 11-Aug-2006 11:13 AM

best way to make sure? match up against the rotor you go on there right now.

Take off one tire and hold the rotor up against it. same with pads.

hard to tell with aftermarket brake part numbers.

alright, sounds good. Gonna try and put my crx together finally...I was going to sell it, but no one thinks its worth anything, so im gonna fix it and drive it. Want to do the work myself and I have never done most of these things, so it should be interesting. Now I just gotta figure out how to take rusted bolts off without cutting them, from like the exhaust.

Thanks for the help.

imported_Joe_98Si 11-Aug-2006 12:55 PM

when working with rusty bolts remember penetrating fluid is your friend....use it and take your time working the bolt back and fourth

chris_si98 11-Aug-2006 01:04 PM

how rusted are the exhaust bolts? Goodluck. I'd just cut them unless they are within 1-2 yrs old. I had a tough time taking mine off that were 10 months old.

imported_Joe_98Si 11-Aug-2006 01:20 PM

oh i didnt notice you said exhaust bolts, i thought you were talking about brake bolts, ya exhaust bolts you might have to end up cutting

alon 11-Aug-2006 01:22 PM

I think thats what I am going to do. I am going to take it to my mechanic and just get him to cut the bolts off. I am not going to go and buy a torch just for that...lol...$500 later...could have got the whole exhaust new for that much.

imported_Nefarious 14-Aug-2006 05:26 AM

yea they are the same... but a 90 civic to a crx are slightly different... they dont screw into the hub, nor do they have the pull off tapped holes.......... as for the exhaust bolts.. cut them or torch them... u can pick up a torch for cheap... and im talkin way cheaper then 500

alon 14-Aug-2006 10:29 AM

im gonna trying cutting it with my dremel, although I dont think it will work. Otherwise take it to my mechanics and get it done. I figured an oxygen and acetelyn torch set up would be expensive?

imported_Nefarious 14-Aug-2006 12:14 PM

nah im almost positive you can pick an older one up cheap... i just got an older school propane torch, works just fine... look around in bargain hunters or super shoppers
