Are you looking to get more power from this engine or just make it sound nice?

If your just looking to make it sound nice, go with a good high quality cat-back system. A lot of guys on here have gone with the WS2 cat-back and love it.

If your looking for more power, you've gotta change the whole exhaust system. Header with 2.5" collector, high flow 2.5" cat and 2.5" resonator and 2.5" all the way back with a 2.5" rear muffler. You can do this and keep it quiet. I have this exact setup and it's not too loud at all. (unless I step on it and crack vtec...lol). The key is to make sure you have a resonator on your system. That is the difference between sounding horrible and raspy and sounding smooth and nice.

For an intake, just get a cheap short ram kit (for a b16, so say for a 99-00 civic SiR), make sure it's a 3" (not 2.5") throw away the cheezy cone filter that comes with the kit and get a BPi velocity stack with a K&N cone filter to fit it.

Good luck.

toda cams yumm

YouTube - Toda VTEC killer cams at idle

but it will wake up your neighbor :)

so lets stick to the basic, i have full exhaust header back with WSII and i love it.

Front and rear disc conversion FTW.

As for exhaust noise, it's all about the muffler. Apexi and Vibrant are fairly quite (like a type-R). Also most mufflers have an optional sound dampener which fit into the outlet.

A resonator is very important to keep the blog down.
