safety and etest done....how much does it usually cost. i asked active green and the guy was like 45 for etest and 75 for safety. - has someone gone somewehre and gotten it done for cheaper or knwos a better place then CT?

60 bucks for cert and 35 for etest at most places

Emission is a standard fee, shouldn't cost more than 38 dollars with tax included.

at my old shop e-tests were 37$ plus tax so $40. I'm not to sure how much we charged for safety but I think it was $60. I'm sure most auto-shops that have an emission bay will charge around the same price.

and for safety what do they look for and at ? my rear drums are rusted from the outside but ok from the inside...would that matter?

nope its okay to have surface rust on the outer side of the drums

Generally, a safety check will cost 1hr worth of labour+ what ever else may need to be done to pass the safety (if any).
Labour rates obviously vary from shop to shop.
