Question Piecewise Turbo

This may be a total newbie question.

For those of us who can't afford a whole turbo kit at once, is there an order to acquiring parts and incrementally improving the car while trying to accumulate the whole kit?

For example, I know you can start with a CAI. But then, could you put in a turbo manifold you acquired off eBay to get some mild gains, then later simultaneously put in the turbocharger and intercooler you found in an import yard, etc.

Of course, without overstressing the non-upgraded components in each stage - kind of like buying and installing the good speakers before you could afford the amp.

Thanks!

Doesn't work like that for a turbo kit... you can do a big diameter cat back, fuel pump, FPR, injectors...but everything else has to be done at once... like the turbo, manifold, I/C and piping, computer tuning, oil lines, coolant lines, downpipe and cat...

Source our your parts and grab them piece by piece....that way it doesn't feel like your spending alot.....i'm pratically buying a piece bi-weekly or several pieces....before you know it your closer and closer to completing your project......that baby to the left is the icing on the cake

Wouldn't you been running rich with all those fuel upgrades.....I know w/ a turbo you need to, hence the bigger injectors and larger fuel pump......i guess my question is, would it do more harm then good putting them on pre-maturely.....must affect mpg

That's why I said FPR cuz you can turn down the pressure on that beeyatch so you are not dumping as much fuel in, but it'll run like crap cuz the fuel won't be atomized well at lower pressure. But if you are talking weeks to boost, then who cares, but if you are talking years, then don't do it. I did that, I've been buying parts left and right since Christmas, but having bought a house, it was a little tougher to do... now 90% of the parts are at my house awaiting the final bits...
