PCV valve
I tested mine today, and it didn't make a clicking sound like the Haynes manual said it should when i squeeze shut the rubber tube when the engine is idleing.
Are these expesnive to replace? Or can they be bought from like the local CT?

In the haynes manual it doens't say much for removing the valve. The directions are only to remove it and replace it with a new one, but it doens't say how to go about it.
Does it just screw off?

The positive crankcase ventillation valve on your 1996 Civic is located halfway down the back side of the motor. It is seated sideways in the intake manifold. You WILL need a flashlight to see it. You'll also need two or three pairs of long needle nose pliers to remove the clamps on the PCV hose at the valve. It'll also be much easier if someone helps you. One of you should be under the hood and the other underneath the vehicle/engine. To give you an extra clue, if you know where the oil filter is located... if you're underneath the vehicle, facing the front of the car, the PCV valve is located just above and I believe, to the right of the oil filter.
Once you get the valve out, you might wanna just replace it... after all, it's only between five and ten dollars. Have fun!
For everyone else: it's a good idea to replace PCV valves approxiamately every 20,000 kms. It'll enhance performance, reduce emmissions and optimize your fuel economy. Don't believe that old backyard mechanics tale of shake, rattle and roll... or blowing through them.

When I had my SOHC motor, I knew where it was. After reading this post I decided to check my valve for my DOHC motor since I haven't changed it ever since I swapped it in, which was about 60,000 kms ago. The problem is, I can't find it. It's a 1st gen b16.

Honda pcv valves are almost always -if not- always located at the intake manifold. Most of the time they're seated in a rubber grommet, but many thread into the manifold. Try to see if you can find the pcv hose, then follow it from the valve cover to the intake. Unfortunately, where I work we don't get many DOHC motors in, so I can't remember exactly where the valve's located. However, the mojority of honda pcv valves are located around the centre of the intake manifold.

I don't recall any other tubes coming from the valve cover though
