parts interchangability (ZC related)

ok my friend got a 89 SOHC JDM ZC non vtec motor...

we need

gaskets, grommets

engine mounts (his stock ones are F'd)

engine mount bushings

piston rings

we want to get all the parts at out honda dealer.....

what parts would work with this motor that we could get and are readily available?
could we use any D series non vtec parts?

like parts from his 91 Si hatch?

-what gaskets?
-get used mounts ie junkyard, of get poly mount inserts and window weld to fill the rest

WRONG...

you need to pop the head off.....NOT ALL single CAM zc's had pm7 pistons (dohc zc), they are prolly pm6(sohc d16a6 pistons)

so use

88-91 pistons/rings.
88-00 head gasket, the d16y8(95+ vtec) offers a little more compression, you can also use the d16z6...(92-95 SI)

the rest of the gaskets, use honda, or gasket maker, and the mounts, use (88-91 civic/crx) or buy the energy inserts...<---alot cheaper and does the same thing if not better...
hope this helps

Most non-vtec sohc zc's are pretty much the same as the d16a6 with a more aggressive camshaft and bigger manifolds.
Its pretty rare to find a sohc zc with pm7 pistons most come with the pm6 pistons.

Before you go and order the piston rings, i suggest you take the head off your block to see if you have pm6 pistons (found in 88-91 si) or the pm7 pistons (found in the doch zc and the DOHC 87-89 integras)

For the head gasket you should order the usdm d16a6
or to bump up your compression up a little bit you could use the d16y8> this will bump your compression up because the head gasket is alot thinner, they are also cheaper too.

most d-series sohc non-vtec engines parts are interchangeable such as manifold heads, camshafts

note: (not all pistons are interchangeable) for example you cannot just simply bolt on d16 pistons onto d15 rods unless you have a d15 vtec.
