Overheating brakes???

I just got out of the car at work after noticing some sort of strange noise while I was driving. I touched the Rear Left side wheel, and I burned my hand on the nuts, they were that hot. There was also a burning smell.
WTF happened?
Something with the handbrake maybe?? I know it was down all the time, thats not the problem I think. I checked all of the other wheels, and theyre fine.

Lightbulb

could be that one brake is dragging. check if the rotor have turned a little blue or purple in board daylight. that indicates a possibly wrapped/burnt rotor. also check the emergency brake mechanism of the caliper if it releases the brakes FULLY.
a slight drag can cause overheat due to stuck sliders or faulty caliper. check it out.

Thank you very much man!
The rotors were replaced last year, theyre could, however be a problem with the e-brake. My dad and I are taking a look at it now.
THANKS!
