Over revving a civic?

Is this possible? My friend told me that he used to rev his stock civic (overseas) alot and his bearings fell off? Is this true?

When you rev, the camshaft moves.

Over revving is a problem.

Miss a shift and you float valves...
Rev high everyday, every minute and you potentially reduce the hours your engine will run strong.

An I believe the expression is "Spun a bearing".

Causing wear and tear... ie why damages occur.

it's an auto, he didnt have to shift though
so it does wear the enginge out ?

dont auto cars have a limiter so u cant over rev?

bbarbulo 23-Jan-2003 11:22 PM

An auto can't over-rev no matter what. You can spin a bearing at idle too... it's an oiling issue, but it happens at high rpm cuz of stress and a weak oil pump. No prob on a newer auto car with a fresh oil change.

It's an auto????

Oh, then assuming it is maintained you almost can't kill it.

Are we talking about stepping on the gas pedal in neutral or passing the redline in gear?
