Opinions on Tein coilover suspension vs. PIC??
hey guys im contemplating between getting the Tein basic and the PIC non-dampening coilover set ups. Ive looked into both and the guys at ******** specialize in PIC and ive read a lot on how they got sick customer service and no problems with their coilover suspensions it actually compares quite well to the Tein flex.
What are your thoughts on both of them and which do you think would be worth getting in regards to quality, price and the combo of Race/track use. I wanna use it at the track but also a daily driver, but more towards the track. PIC are well for track, Tein i heard was **** for track use.. Let me know wat u guys think!! thanks a lot |
PIC coilovers are the best bang for the buck out there hands down, I have been running the PIC coilovers 12k/10k spring rates on my EJ8 for about 5 months now and they are amazing.
I have never had any experience with Tein suspension so I can't give you an opinion on them at the track but I hear they are good for a DD, were as PIC are a track proven and have been made for track applications....I dont track my car so even on a DD the PIC are amazing As for customer service at the store you mentioned...you hit the nail on the head, the customer service at that store is top notch, always looking out for your best interests |
thats crazy man, thanks a lot, it does seem pretty worth it compared to a lotta of others, i know tein is good but i heard so many reviews that it wasnt meant for the track, at least the basic isnt, the flex is an entire different story, its comparable to the PICs' ive heard.. well thanks a lot bro.

Apex P1 - 8K Front / 6K Rear Apex P2 - 10K Front / 8K Rear Apex P3 - 12K Front / 10K Rear |
The rates are the level of stiffness of the spring. The higher the number, the stiffer the spring. How stiff a spring you need depends on what you are trying to achieve with your suspension.
14K/10K is in my experience a very good road race setup for a Civic. Thus 12K/10K would be very race worthy, while 8K/6K would be milder, and very street worthy. Of course the dampening has a lot to do with it as well. I myself prefer Tein over PIC, simply because PIC is just another Taiwanese generic coilover being passed off as something better then it is. The downside to Tein's is that they tend to be rather soft, and over-dampened. |
